I have been recommending this innovative, creative and perceptive text for years. These people understand how kids actually think and behave. In my experience as a psychologist, the single most helpful text on understanding children's (and human) behaviour that I have found. The audiotapes are also recommended. I'd love to see the authors compile a workbook, clarifying and systematizing their method - perhaps the only shortcoming.
This was an assigned textbook for a class I was taking at APU (Intervention through Consultation). I found it to be extremely helpful with loads of great ideas. Some of the ideas outlined may seem a bit outrageous and silly to some people (a few of my classmates.) However, once the ideas are implemented you can see how well they work out. There are some approaches in this book that are quite innovative in some ways. ,
The authors provide many case examples to illustrate their 6 methods. The text is easy to read and really quite interesting. ,
I plan to give this book as a Christmas gift to a cousin entering a teaching program!
