I'm using this book to teach an introduction to computer programming using Visual Basic. (I also have 20 years practical experience in information systems.) I selected this book over several others because of its clear presentation of topics balanced with excellent suggestions for writing good program code. For example: * always use OPTION EXPLICIT* specify BYREF or BYVAL when passing variables The textbook is chuck full of practical programming advise which applies not only to Visual Basic, but other programming languages as well (example - see the section on data validation). At the end of each chapter the authors do ...

This is one of the best books out there that addresses the school bully issue. This book is full of lists and charts that you can use. Although it is targeted for elementary and middle school aged kids, any parent, teacher, or other school official can benefit from this book. Dr. Beane has done some great research, all of which has been put into the writing of this book. He is one of the leading experts in this field, and has a lot of good information. I strongly recommend this book...thanks for everything Dr. Beane, ...

My thinking style at that time was primarily an idealist. But after I earned my master's degree in American Studies and took the test again, I was primarily an analyst. Both these test results made sense to me given that my two degrees were separated by six years. This is one of the "hidden" values of the book: that one's "Styles of Thinking" (the original hardcover and, in my opinion, the better ...
