As a current student of Dr. Lazar, reading her book and discussing it thoroughly in class has really made me realize that I have many of the same prejudices as the students she discussed in this book. This is a book that describes the many experiences of growth and changing opinion of Dr. Lazar herself and her students, preservice teachers. It describes the prejudices the college students held about children in urban school settings and their capabilities.
