Customer Review: Finally a book about academics in the adolescent years ! ! (5 Stars)
This book focuses specifically on academic issues of children with Asperger's in middle and high school. There are many other books about other aspects of Aspergers, but this is the only good book I have found on this specific topic.
Diane has a great understanding of the difficulties faced by child aspies who on the surface may be getting "good grades" but are failing in many other ways. Learning difficulties in these children can be subtle and often show up as incomplete assignments or "behavior problems".

Customer Review: Extremely important information (5 Stars)
This is the first book I've read about Aspergers that actually gives you something to go to the school with to develop a plan to head off rages at the pass, so to speak. Most of the other books tell you what the Asperger childs deficits are, but do not give you any solutions or even a direction to go in. I didn't realize that there is a specific order that social, behavioral, and communication skills develop in children, and that they have to learn them in the right order otherwise they can not learn any new skills. The social skills program in this outstanding book will be a positive resource for all professionals and parents. The goal is to give an opportunity for success to children and teens with autism spectrum disorders. Children with other impairments could also greatly benefit.
The lessons are presented in a clear, helpful, easy to follow manner with strategies for teaching and reinforcing important, useful social skills.
